Air pollution, declining groundwater tables, and heatwaves pose massive challenges across Northern India. Akshya Seva Sansthan has undertaken a committed, science-backed environmental mission to plant and nurture approximately 50,000 native shade-giving and oxygen-generating trees in Palwal, rural Haryana, and Delhi-NCR.
Unlike conventional token plantation drives where saplings are neglected after planting, our approach is defined by our motto: "We don't just want to plant trees. We want to help them survive." Every sapling is protected with a tree-guard, assigned a regular watering schedule, and monitored until mature.
Ensuring over 90%+ sapling survival rate through structured community stewardship.
Training volunteers, school teachers, and farmers on soil preparation and indigenous sapling selection (Neem, Peepal, Banyan, Jamun, Shisham).
Excavating optimal 2x2 ft pits, mixing organic vermicompost with fertile soil, and planting healthy saplings during ideal monsoon/spring cycles.
Implementing scheduled manual and drip watering systems, including earthen pitcher irrigation to conserve moisture during summer.
Installing durable bamboo or metal tree guards around each sapling to prevent cattle grazing and weed competition.
Periodic field visits by our green coordinators to inspect leaf health, pest incidence, soil moisture, and replace any diseased plants.
Once the tree has grown to self-sustaining height (2+ years), custodianship is handed over to the local panchayat or school eco-club.
Planting 50,000 indigenous trees along roads, schools, panchayat lands, and barren belts.
Installing guards, watering networks, and disease treatments to ensure survival.
Rainwater harvesting, reviving village ponds, and preventing water wastage.
Combating erosion, organic composting, and maintaining topsoil organic matter.
Guiding farmers on zero-chemical fertilizers, bio-pesticides, and crop rotation.
Distributing reusable cotton bags and campaigning against single-use plastic.
Conducting student seminars, nature walks, and community green rallies across Haryana.
